The Amami-Oshima World Heritage Conservation Center opened in July 2022, with the registration of Amami-Oshima Island, Tokunoshima Island, Northern Part of Okinawa Island, and Iriomote Island as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site in July 2021.
This center has field replicas where you can feel as though you are out walking the field as you experience the forests of Amami Oshima and observe its inhabitants, as well as an exhibition area where you can learn about efforts and rules to conserve the natural environment of Amami Oshima.
Sharing information on the natural environment of Amami Oshima and its conservation efforts as a comprehensive hub for promoting understanding and empathy of the Natural World Heritage Site and its value.

The museum shop located within the center offers a wide range of products, including brands such as THE NORTH FACE, KEEN, and environmentally friendly items. They also carry the apparel brand devadurga, which utilizes traditional Amami-Oshima craftsmanship called “Mud Dyeing.” Whether you are looking for activities or souvenirs, the shop has a diverse lineup of products that anyone can casually browse and enjoy.
